Severe Storms Cause Significant Damage in Des Arc and Piedmont, Emergency Crews Respond

Des Arc, Mo. (KFMO) - Severe storms, including tornadoes, swept through parts of Southeast Missouri, causing significant damage in the communities of Des Arc and Piedmont, Friday night. Shortly after 11 p.m., the Pilot Knob Fire Protection District responded to assist the Southern Iron County Fire Protection District with storm damage in the Des Arc area. Upon arrival, personnel assisted with incident command and conducted searches of numerous buildings that had suffered substantial damage.

Approximately two hours later, both crews were reassigned to assist Wayne County with storm damage in the Piedmont area. Crews have since been released and are currently returning to their district.

Reports indicate that a tornado likely passed through the Des Arc community, causing significant damage.

In addition to tornadoes, the storms brought hail and strong winds to the region. Damage reports have emerged from various areas, including Arnold, Bridgeton, and Villa Ridge, following Friday night's storms.

Emergency responders continue to assess the damage and provide assistance to affected residents in the impacted communities.
