Butler Co., Mo. (KFMO) - One person has died, and multiple homes have been damaged after severe weather tore through Butler County. Officials have set up a shelter at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff to assist those affected.
The storm caused extensive damage, bringing down trees and power lines across the area. Search and rescue efforts were underway at a mobile home park as emergency crews worked to locate and assist residents.
The Poplar Bluff Police Department is urging residents to avoid areas with storm damage, as increased traffic is creating congestion and making it difficult for first responders to navigate the affected locations.
Authorities continue to assess the extent of the destruction and are working to restore power and clear debris. More updates are expected as officials release additional information.
