Fatal Head-On Collision on MO-21 in Iron County

Pilot Knob, Mo. (KFMO) - A fatal crash on Missouri Highway 21 south of Maple Street in Pilot Knob left one man dead and two others seriously injured Thursday evening.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:25 p.m. when a 1997 GMC Sierra, driven by a 74-year-old Belleview man, crossed the center of the roadway and struck a southbound 2017 Ram 1500 head-on. The driver of the GMC Sierra was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iron County Coroner.

The driver of the Ram 1500, a 65-year-old man from Ironton, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur. A 67-year-old female passenger in the Ram was also seriously injured and was airlifted to the same hospital.

Both vehicles were totaled in the accident and were towed from the scene.
