Winter Storm Warning in Effect for the Parkland Until Wednesday Morning

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for St. Francois, Iron, Madison, Ste. Genevieve, and Washington Counties until 6 a.m. Wednesday as a major winter storm continues to impact the region.

Heavy Snowfall & Dangerous Conditions
Snow will persist through Tuesday night, with the heaviest accumulation expected in southeast Missouri. The most intense snowfall is forecasted for Tuesday afternoon and evening, with rates exceeding 0.5 inches per hour at times.

Total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible in some areas. The snow is anticipated to taper off early Wednesday morning.

Bitter Cold & Hazardous Travel
In addition to heavy snowfall, dangerously cold temperatures will settle in from Tuesday through Friday morning. Wind chill values may drop as low as -10 to -15°F, increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia for those exposed to the elements.

Roads are expected to be snow-covered and hazardous, especially during the evening commute Tuesday. Travelers are urged to use caution, avoid unnecessary trips, and check road conditions before heading out.
