Winter Storm Warning Continues for Southeast Missouri

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for St. Francois, Iron, Madison, Ste. Genevieve, and Washington Counties as heavy snowfall and bitter cold temperatures impact the region.

Snow is expected throughout the day into tonight, with the heaviest accumulation occurring in the afternoon and evening hours, particularly across southeastern Missouri. Snowfall rates could exceed 0.5 inches per hour in some locations. The National Weather Service warns that this could significantly impact the evening commute, making travel hazardous.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Alex Elmore says the area could see a substantial amount of snow.

The main round of snow is forecasted to begin around 1 p.m. and will move out by 2 a.m. Wednesday.

In addition to snowfall, dangerous cold temperatures are expected through Friday morning. Wind chill values could fall to -10 to -15 degrees Fahrenheit, and overnight lows may dip below zero degrees in some areas.

Residents are urged to exercise caution while traveling, dress in warm layers, and limit time outdoors due to the risk of frostbite. Stay tuned to KFMO for the latest weather updates and road conditions.
