(St. Louis, MO) The St. Louis Cardinals evened up a three game series with the Cincinnati Reds at a game a piece with a 2-1 win Wednesday night at Busch Stadium.
Paul Goldschmidt doubled in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Cardinals a lead and they’d hang on and close out the game a night after stranding the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th with three consecutive strikeouts.
Goldschmidt had two hits in the win and Nolan Arenado homered in the bottom of the 4th inning. Ryan Helsley picked up save 44 of the year.
Lance Lynn made the start after returning from the Injured List and lasted five innings, striking out seven and giving up just a run. JoJo Romero collected the win.
St. Louis (73-72) sits 6.5 games out of a wild card spot. They conclude the series with Cincinnati Thursday at 12:15pm on B104.3
