St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) – The St. Louis Cardinals salvage the final game of a three game series with the Los Angeles Angels 12-5 on Wednesday.
Cardinals’ catcher Ivan Herrera hit three home runs in the win becoming the first St. Louis catcher to do so in a game. He highlighted a seven-run bottom of the eighth with his third big fly of the game to Big Mac Land.
Herrera collected six RBI in the win. Lars Nootbaar, Nolan Arenado, and Masyn Winn each had two hits in the game.
Sonny Gray allowed five runs on five hits and struck out nine batters faced but does not get a decision after begin pulled after six innings pitched. Jo Jo Romero pitched the final 1.1 innings to get the win.
The Angels won the first two games of the series in extra innings (5-4, 9-7).
St. Louis (4-2) will play in Boston against the Red Sox Friday through Sunday on B104.3.
