Denver, Co. (KFMO) – The St. Louis Blues escape Colorado with a 2-1 win over the Avalanche on Saturday for their ninth straight win.
Zachary Bolduc started the scoring halfway through the first period giving the Blues an early lead, but Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon answered under two minutes later with his 30th goal of the season tying the game 1-1.
The game remained deadlocked until Pavel Buchnevich tallied the eventual game winner in his return to the line up giving St. Louis a one goal lead 8:54 into the third period. A lead the Blues didn’t relinquish.
Goaltender Jordan Binnington stopped 28 shots against, and Robart Thomas added two assists in the win.
St. Louis (40-28-7) are 15-2-2 since the Four Nations Face-Off and are tied with Minnesota for the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. The Blues host Detroit on Tuesday with coverage on AM-1240 KFMO beginning at 6:30pm.
