St. Paul Giants Make History with First-Ever District Championship and Program-Best 20 Wins

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) – The St. Paul Giants set a program record with 20 wins this season, including the program’s first ever district title.

The Giants, in their 12th season, entered the 2024-25 campaign like any other. Preparing for a preseason jamboree followed by a season opening shootout hosted at the Farmington Civic Center.

Prior to the jamboree, a new opportunity arose; a partnership with Valle Catholic, who couldn’t field a team with enough players. For Valle Catholic senior Brooklyn Weibrecht, along with freshmen Reece Weiler and Kennedy Berkowitz this meant they would have to make the trip up Highway 32 to Farmington for practices and home games.

KFMO Sports spoke with Giants head coach Andy Sherrill on Tuesday night about the process of partnering with Valle Catholic.

Sherrill says the team meshed well and became a resilient bunch.

St. Paul concluded the 2024 portion of the season going 6-4 in November and December combined before peaking at the right time. The Giants won six of seven games in January and carried a season-best five-game win streak two games into February.

Andy Sherrill’s team surged in the Class 2, District 4 Tournament as the top seed. After a first round bye, the Giants handled 4-seed Brentwood 66-52, and defeated the second seeded Bismarck 53-45 two days later.

Sherrill says the season was especially fun.

St. Paul ended the season with a record of 20-8 as the Class 2, District 4 champions. A crowd of St. Paul and Valle Catholic supporters gave the Giants a standing ovation as the final buzzer sounded Tuesday night wrapping up a historic season.
