Central Lady Rebels Dominate Valle Catholic in 17-6 Season Opener

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) – The Central Lady Rebels offense dominates in the season opening win over the Valle Catholic Lady Warriors 17-6 in five innings on Monday.

Valle’s Addi Donze walked and came around to score in the top of the first before Central answered in the bottom half of the inning.

Alex Neff was plunked to lead off the home half of the first. Sydney Miles doubled to left field and brought home Neff. Miles and Kaydence Cosby, who was intentionally walked, scored on a double by Fraley.

Fraley collected five RBI total with the other three coming on a second inning triple. Fraley scored in the first inning and twice in the second inning. Miles contributed three hits and four RBI in the win.

Central’s 13 run second inning blew the game open. Miles, Neff, and Mallory Blankenship each singles twice in the inning highlighted by Fraley’s triple.

Cosby walked twice in the inning for a total of three free passes in the game, two of which were intentional. She was also hit by a pitch in the third inning.

Valle Catholic scored three in the third inning pushing the game to a fourth and fifth inning. Aubrey Wolk’s two-run double sparked fire in the Lady Warrior offense that was quickly extinguished with back-to-back strikeouts by Central pitcher Kyndall Eaton.

Reece Weiler smacked a two-run single in the fifth inning cutting the lead to 11 runs but she was stranded on base as the game-extending run at first.

Eaton gets the win in the circle going four innings and allowing six runs on three hits. She struck out seven and walked six batters. Valle’s Payton Naeger is tagged with the loss allowing 17 runs on 12 hits in four innings of work.

Central’s roster features seven freshman and one sophomore. Lady Rebels assistant coach Amber Beers says the win should spark confidence in the young team.

The Rebels (1-0, 1-0) travel to Ste. Genevieve on Wednesday to play the Dragons on KFMO. Valle Catholic (0-1, 0-1) host Grandview Tuesday.
