Caledonia, Mo. (KFMO) - The Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers picked up its 10th win of the season Wednesday, defeating Valley Caledonia in straight sets 25-13, 25-17, 25-13.
Arcadia Valley (10-10-2) was tested in the early going, with the Lady Vikings (6-9-2) sticking close and forcing lots of ties through the first half of the first set. However, with the two teams tied at 9-9, a string of miscommunications from Valley allowed the Lady Tigers to pull away. They'd take the set, giving them a 1-0 lead.
That early tie trend continued into the second set, but again, Arcadia Valley was able to pull away halfway through to take back-to-back sets. Finally, Arcadia Valley started the third set out strong, and while the Lady Vikings were able to string a few points here and there, the deficit was too large for any serious comeback effort.
Senior Skylar Romines led Arcadia Valley in kills with 6. She also recorded 3 blocks. Valley Caledonia was led by sophomore Kamryn Dickey and junior Reagan Schrum, each with 5 kills. Arcadia Valley plays Thursday afternoon at home against Saxony Lutheran. Valley Caledonia faces Marquand on Friday.
