Winter Storm Warning Issued for the Parkland

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve Counties, effective from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 p.m. Friday. Iron, Madison, Perry, and Reynolds Counties are also under a Winter Storm Warning, while Washington and Jefferson Counties remain under a Winter Weather Advisory.

Here’s what to expect:

Winter Storm Warning Areas: 3 to 5 inches of snow
Winter Weather Advisory Areas: 1 to 3 inches of snow

Snow is expected to begin falling between 9 p.m. and midnight tonight and continue through late Friday afternoon, tapering off by early evening. Roads and sidewalks may become slippery, particularly in areas already coated with ice.

  • Avoid unnecessary travel; if you must drive, reduce your speed and allow extra time to reach your destination.
  • Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle, including blankets, water, and a flashlight.
  • Wear proper footwear to prevent slipping on icy sidewalks.
  • Check on elderly neighbors or those with limited mobility to ensure their safety during hazardous conditions.
