Potosi Police Officer Facing Felony Charges

(Potosi, MO) A Potosi Police Officer, 39 year old Matthew N. Skaggs, is facing three separate felony charges after he was arrested Wednesday morning. A press release issued by the Potosi Police Chief, Michael Gum, indicates Potosi Police were contacted Tuesday evening with information of misconduct by an officer. Gum informed the Missouri State Highway Patrol who began investigating. Skaggs is charged with Statutory Sodomy Or Attempted Statutory Sodomy Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a child under the age of 14, Enticement Or Attempted Enticement Of A Child under the age of 15, and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child Creating Substantial Risk in the first degree. A court date has yet to be released. Skaggs is being held in the Washington County Jail. Bond is set at $100,000.
