Merrill Headed To State Competition

(St. Francois County, MO) Madalynne Merrill, a student in the West County Schools, is moving on to the State Hoop Shoot Competition as a representative of the Mineral Area Elks. She won the district competition and the Mineral Area Elks, Roland Seal, says Merrill won the 8-9 year old competition.

Seal adds the Elks Hoop Shoot program has instilled and maintained grit in kids for almost 50 years. Each year, the six Hoop Shoot National Champions have their names listed alongside their picture in a brand new digital exhibit in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
