Jefferson County Deputies Investigate Fiber Optic Wire Theft Near De Soto

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of fiber optic wire that belonged to Spectrum, after it was discovered cut from utility poles along the 1300 block of Highway 21, southwest of De Soto.

According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, a Spectrum employee told deputies that service outages in the area were first reported around 3 p.m. on April 7. When employees arrived to investigate, they found the wire had been cut and stolen. Authorities did not provide an estimated value for the stolen wire. As of April 11, none of the wire had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified. .
