Former Jefferson County Man Faces Multiple Charges for Burglary, Stealing, and Property Damage

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A former Jefferson County resident, 35-year-old Cameron Shinkle, of Cuba, is accused of a series of crimes committed between June and August and now faces 19 felonies and six misdemeanors.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has filed charges that include burglary, motor vehicle theft, firearm theft, and property damage. Shinkle was arrested on August 1 in south St. Louis County after allegedly burglarizing a dialysis center. At the time of his arrest, he was a suspect in at least 17 cases in Jefferson County.

The Sheriff’s Office reports Shinkle, who previously lived in Arnold and De Soto, is also facing charges in Franklin and St. Louis counties. He remains in custody at the Franklin County Jail.

Among the charges, Shinkle faces:

  • Burglary and Property Damage: Incidents include breaking into homes and garages, stealing vehicles and valuables, and causing significant property damage.
  • Vehicle and Firearm Theft: Allegations include stealing multiple vehicles, motorcycles, and firearms.
  • Notable Cases: Shinkle allegedly stole a Polaris side-by-side valued at $32,000 and tools worth $2,600 from a High Ridge garage in June. In July, he reportedly caused over $1,600 in damages to a vacant trailer and stole several vehicles and items, including iced tea drinks.

Penalties for the charges vary, with Class B felonies carrying up to 15 years in prison, Class D felonies up to seven years, and misdemeanors involving potential jail time and fines.
