De Soto Father Files Lawsuit Against Child's Mother Accused of Murdering Their Daughter

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Jason Daugherty, of De Soto, has filed a $3 million lawsuit against Ashley Parmeley, the mother of his child, who is accused of killing their daughter and another young boy. Court documents show that Daugherty filed the suit in the Jefferson County Circuit Court on November 5 and is representing himself.

37-year-old Parmeley, of Pevely, faces charges for the alleged murder of her 9-year-old daughter, Scarlet Ahnahleigh Parmeley-Daugherty, and her 2-year-old son, Isaac James Baum, who was not Daugherty’s child. The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Parmeley with two counts of first-degree murder, both class A felonies, and one count of armed criminal action, an unclassified felony.

According to the probable-cause statement, on May 28, Parmeley drove to the Festus Police Station and reportedly confessed to killing her children. Police discovered Scarlet's body in the trunk of Parmeley’s SUV with a gunshot wound, while Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies later located Isaac's body in a fountain at Timber Creek Resort. Parmeley allegedly told investigators she shot Scarlet and drowned Isaac.

The charges were initially filed in both Jefferson and St. Francois counties but were later consolidated in Jefferson County. Parmeley has been held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond since May.
