Bonne Terre Mine Closed Amid Ongoing Legal Dispute with Doe Run

Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - The Bonne Terre Mine has been temporarily closed due to ongoing litigation involving Doe Run Resources. The decision to halt operations at the historic site will remain in place until the legal matter is resolved.

Doug Goergens, owner of West End Diving, which operates tours at the mine, expressed disappointment over the closure. "As you can imagine, we are extremely saddened by this development. Like our guests, we love Bonne Terre Mine and the friendships we've developed with our staff and visitors," Goergens said.

Despite the temporary closure, Goergens remains hopeful for a positive resolution, allowing the mine to reopen in the near future. Known for its rich history and unique underground experiences, the Bonne Terre Mine has long been a popular destination for tourists and diving enthusiasts.
