(St. Francois County, MO) Officers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol are reporting eight traffic fatalities, no boating deaths, and four drownings over the July Fourth holiday counting period. The Patrol's Corporal Dallas Thompson says none of the drowning victims were wearing a life jacket when they died.
The counting period ran from 6 p.m., Friday, June 30th, through 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, July 4th. Troopers worked 390 traffic crashes, which included 152 injuries and seven of the eight fatalities. The Kansas City Police Department worked the remaining fatality. Troopers also made 116 DWI arrests and 21 drug arrests. They worked six boating crashes, which included two injuries and no fatalities. Troopers made 10 boating while intoxicated arrests. Two of the four weekend drownings occurred in the Troop F area, one drowning took place in the Troop A area, and one drowning was in our Troop C area.
