Bill to Ban Congress from Stock Market

Washington, D.C. (KFMO) - A bipartisan group of Senators wants to ban trading in the stock market by members of Congress.

Legislation developed by Democrats Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Michigan’s Gary Peters and Georgia’s Jon Ossof, plus Missouri Republican Josh Hawley, requires an immediate ban on buying stocks and some other investments by representatives and senators, their spouses and dependents. It would stop them from selling stocks 90 days after becoming law.

Peters says a senate committee will take up the bill later this month.
