Winter Storm Warning Issued for the Parkland

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for St. Francois, Iron, Madison, Ste. Genevieve, and Washington Counties from 3 a.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday. Jefferson County remains under a Winter Storm Watch during the same timeframe.

Meteorologist Alex Elmore says this storm will bring only snow, as temperatures will be too cold for mixed precipitation. Snow is expected to begin falling between 6 a.m. and noon Tuesday, with accumulation continuing through early Wednesday morning. High snowfall amounts are likely in the warned areas.

With extremely cold temperatures, all surfaces will see accumulation, making travel dangerous. Road conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly, and drivers should prepare for hazardous conditions.

Temperatures will remain between 15-20 degrees through Thursday, with wind chills dropping to -15 degrees across the Parkland. Wednesday night, lows will fall below zero.
