Weekend Drowning in Iron County

(Vulcan, MO) A 6 year old boy from Fairview Heights, Illinois is dead after drowning in the Vulcan area of Iron County Saturday. Highway Patrol reports indicate the boy was swimming in Big Creek near Vulcan when he went under and did not resurface. His body was located a short time later. Life saving measures were attempted but unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at Iron County Medical Center in Ironton. The drowning took place about 3:10 Saturday afternoon.
