(Jefferson City, MO) A measure moving through the Missouri legislature would help bolster the resource officers for school districts around the state. The State Representative of the 144th District, Chris Dinkins, says if approved, and signed into law, the measure would place someone, other than a teacher who has direct responsibility over students, in the position of making safety decisions in emergency situations.
According to Dinkins the bill has gained the support of the Missouri Association of School Administrators and the Missouri School Board Association. Dinkins adds the measure gained wide support from both parties until it was debated on the house floor where some democrats complained the measure was just another way to have more guns in schools.
