Ste. Genevieve Man Charged

(Ste. Genevieve, MO) A man from Ste. Genevieve, 58 year old Robert Eugene Scherer, is facing child molestation and rape charges after an investigation by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. According to reports Scherer is charged with five counts of first degree molestation, five counts of aggravated sodomy, five counts of supplying alcohol and/or drugs to a child, five counts of sodomy to a person under the age of 13, three counts of aggravated rape, and three counts of rape of a person under the age of 13. The investigation began as parents of five siblings reported the alleged abuse to the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff's Office in April. In a probable cause statement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol all five children said Scherer forced them to watch pornographic movies and look at pornographic pictures. It's also alleged Scherer gave the children food and drinks laced with drugs. Scherer has pled not guilty to the allegations.
