St. Francois County Pursuit Update

(St. Francois County, MO) Law enforcement officials with St. Francois County are in the process of filing several charges against Cody Callaway, whose last known address was Fredericktown, after he is said to have led police on an extended high speed chase Saturday night. Details on the chase indicate a St. Francois County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to pull Callaway over, around 10 pm, for a license plate violation as he was driving south on Highway 67 North of Desloge. Callaway fled the attempted traffic stop at speeds up to 100 mph and exited the highway at Desloge. He continued the chase to Parkway Drive at Park HIlls and got back on Highway 67 again headed south. Spike strips were laid out by Farmington police. Callaway blew one of his front tires on the strips yet continued on the wheel's rim. He exited Highway 67 at the Highway 221 exit and continued west to Ironton. Callaway turned around and headed back to the Doe Run area. By this time 3 tires had been flattened by spike strips as he continued to drive at high speeds of 80 mph or more.  He was finally stopped and taken into custody near N Highway and Trap Rock Road. Charges will include several attempts by Callaway to strike officers with the SUV during the chase. Callaway is wanted on several warrants out of Madison County and is a parole abscodner. He's being held in the St. Francois County Jail.
