St. Francois County Highway 221 Opening Today

Doe Run, Mo. (KFMO) - Missouri Department of Transportation officials say Route 221 in St. Francois County is set to reopen to traffic today at approximately 4 p.m.

Project Manager with the department, Chris Crocker, says final touches are underway to complete the project.

The new asphalt overlay extends from Farmington to Pilot Knob.

The project features a new 4,200 foot stretch of roadway near Henson Road at Doe Run. It replaces five tight curves with two wider, gradual turns, creating a smoother route for greater safety and smoother driving.

Route 221 has been closed since August 21st for the construction.
