September is Food Safety Education Month

(Park Hills, MO) September is Food Safety Education Month and health specialists have several tips for you when you're cooking. An Environmental Public Health Specialist with the St. Francois County Health Center, Kaleb Erwin, says cleaning foods before preparing them is the first step.

According to Erwin other tips include separating raw meats from other foods in transit and storage and cooking foods at the suggested temperature. Erwin adds having a food thermometer on hand in the kitchen is essential to food safety.
