Scherrer Found Guilty Sentencing Next

(Farmington, MO) The man charged with killing Samuel Francis in 2012, 57 year old Melvin Scherrer, formerly of Bonne Terre, will face sentencing after he was found guilty of murder in the second degree, armed criminal action, felonious restraint, and abandonment of a corpse Friday in St. Francois County Court. A press release from St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney, Melissa Gilliam, shows this four day trial was presided over by the Honorable Judge Jerel Lee Poor II.  The case was prosecuted by Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Gilliam and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Brown.  Sentencing will be held in Division One May 6th, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. Francis' body was discovered in a septic tank outside Bonne Terre City Limits, bound with duck tape. Charges were brought against Scherrer in 2013. Francis' body was discovered in July of that year.
