Poplar Bluff Residents Charged with Murder

Butler Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Two Poplar Bluff residents, 33-year-old Jonothan Kimbrough, and 31-year-old Wanda Stevens, are facing charges of second degree murder and armed criminal action.

Reports indicate the victim is 32-year-old Johnathan K. Esparza, of Poplar Bluff. It's alleged the three were together Friday night riding around in a stolen car in Butler County. Esparza and Kimbrough had a fight and Kimbrough shot Esparza. His body was dumped on County Road 611 and was discovered later by a group of fishermen around 8 p.m. Saturday.

According to the State of Missouri's CaseNet website, Kimbrough is schedule for an initial hearing in the case Thursday, September 12 in Butler County Court. Stevens has no scheduled court appearance yet.
