(St. Francois County, MO) If you're having trouble keeping warm during the extreme cold temperatures predicted for tonight through next Tuesday, there are several warming centers and shelters being activated. The East Missouri Action Agency is opening the Uplift Shelter facility behind the old Mineral Area Hospital at Weber and Wallace Roads for the homeless. It will open overnight starting tonight from 5pm to 7am through the end of February. The shelter has daytime assistance for people to shower and do laundry at the Farmington Oaks Senior Center. You can also access the various St. Francois County Ambulance sheds for shelter. They're located in Park Hills, Bonne Terre, Bismarck, and Farmington. The city of Farmington is using several of it's city government buildings for warming centers during business hours while their Fire and Police departments are available for the public to keep warm 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
