(Farmington, MO) A Park Hills man, 52 year old Oscar OrtizJr., is convicted of manslaughter in a 2019 shooting that led to the death of Adam Carroll. A press release from the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney's office shows after four days in trial, the jury returned a guilty verdict just before midnight on the charges of Involuntary Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Police alleged Ortiz shot and killed 34 year old Adam Carroll, of Farmington, early the morning of July 1st, 2019. Reports indicate the murder took place shortly after midnight in the 700 block of Third Street in Park Hills. Carroll had been shot in the head. Witnesses identified Ortiz as the shooter. He was captured by officers later driving too fast and losing control of his vehicle in the 4700 block of Flat River Road. Ortiz will appear before Circuit Judge Wendy Wexler Horn for sentencing December 17th. He faces a maximum life sentence in prison.
