North County School District Addresses Another Social Media Threat

Desloge, Mo. (KFMO) - After a misidentification of a threat to North County Middle School Thursday evening, North County Intermediate School administrators are investigating a similar situation, after receiving a report Friday morning, regarding a potential threat circulating on social media. The post in question stated, “heard this is coming to nchs now might wanna watch out tmrw.” School officials immediately notified district administration and local law enforcement, initiating an investigation as part of the district's safety protocols.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that the post originated from a student at Nicholas County High School (NCHS) in West Virginia, not North County. School officials promptly contacted the principal of NCHS, who confirmed that the student responsible was enrolled in their district. North County is now cooperating with Nicholas County authorities to assist in their ongoing investigation.

District officials noted that similar social media posts have been appearing nationwide, prompting concerns. The administration commended students for promptly reporting these posts to school officials and law enforcement but urged students not to share such posts online. Instead, students are encouraged to report any concerning information to a trusted adult to help maintain a safe school environment.

Parents and guardians with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the North County administrative team at 573-431-3300.
