Next Steps in Whittle Investigation

(St. Francois County, MO) Prosecutors in the death investigation of 44 year old Anne Marie Whittle of Farmington, are still waiting on tests associated with the autopsy on Whittle. Farmington resident, Kevin Dement, is charged with abandonment of a corpse and felony tampering with evidence in the case. St. Francois County Prosecutor, Melissa Gilliam, says there could be additional charges against 55 year old Kevin Dement once those tests arrive.

The investigation began when Farmington officers were told to contact the Franklin County Sheriff's Department over information they obtained from a witness concerning Whittle's wellbeing. When she could not be found Dement's name surfaced as a suspect. He was found at his workplace and was interviewed. Dement allegedly told police he picked up Whittle in Farmington and drove her to his home where they had a verbal altercation that turned physical. Dement allegedly told police they would find her body in the basement of his home at 127 Moore Street in Farmington. A search warrant was obtained and the body was recovered. Dement is scheduled to make an appearance in St. Francois County Court December 3rd for a preliminary hearing.
