More Details on Prison Stabbings

(Bonne Terre, MO) Officials with the Missouri Department of Corrections are slowly releasing some information in regards to several stabbings at the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic, and Correctional Center at Bonne Terre. A spokesperson for the Department, Karen Pojjman, says the incidents took place over the weekend and Monday with prison made weapons. According to Pojjman the first incident took place Saturday as one offender assaulted another causing minor injuries. Another assault took place Sunday as a fight broke out among several prisoners. Pojjman adds one of the offenders injuries from the Sunday altercation caused officials serious concern so he was medically treated elsewhere.

Pojjman explains another assault Monday took place as a prisoner assaulted a staff member who was take to the hospital. It's reported he's recovering well. The incidents are being investigated by internal investigators with the Department of Corrections and local law enforcement.
