Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Heavy rain has lead to flash flooding and water rescues across the Parkland.
Some areas saw over 7 inches of rainfall on Monday, prompting flash flooding in several rural areas and endangering a levee near Iron Mountain lake. St. Francois County residents nearby were urged to evacuate. In Bloomsdale, volunteer firefighters rescued two men after they tried to drive through water on a flooded road. Other rescues have taken place as well.
From 9 a.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service recorded 6.61 inches of rainfall at Farmington Regional Airport and 9.75 inches of rainfall in Hillsboro.
More heavy rain is in the forecast for much of Missouri through Wednesday.
