(Fredericktown, MO) With warmer weather headed towards the Parkland this weekend, and 4th of July celebrations across the region, it's a good idea to pay attention to the possibility of a heat related illness. An RN with the Madison County Health Department, Jackie Berry, says heat exhaustion and heat stroke are dangerous.
Berry adds to combat these symptoms a person must cool down slowly by taking a cool shower, siting in the shade, or drinking cool water. Berry explains you should also place damp rags under your legs and armpits and don't drink anything with caffeine or alcohol while trying to get back to a normal body temperature.
