Ste. Genevieve Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A crash involving a 2022 Freightliner occurred early Tuesday morning on southbound Interstate 55 at mile marker 157 in Ste. Genevieve County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident took place at approximately 12:50 a.m.
The Freightliner, driven by 34-year-old Muaiyad Naseer of Denver, Colorado, was traveling southbound when it veered off the right side of the roadway, striking the guardrails. The vehicle overturned but eventually returned to the roadway.
Naseer, who was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash, sustained minor injuries. He was transported, by ambulance, to Mercy Hospital Jefferson for treatment.
The Freightliner was reported as totaled. The crash initially resulted in a road closure expected to last until about 2 p.m., however, crews were able to clear the scene, and the roadway reopened ahead of schedule, just before 11 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation, and no other vehicles were involved.
