St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Fire crews responded to a possible LP tank fire outside a residence Monday evening, only to discover an active fire threatening a two-story home.
The Wolf Creek Fire Protection District arrived at the scene, on Green Trail Drive, at 6:41 p.m. to find flames visible from the rear of the single-family dwelling. A 360-degree assessment revealed that the fire had extended into the lower-level garage, prompting a first alarm request for additional fire department support. Firefighters swiftly deployed a 1 ¾-inch hand line to extinguish the exterior flames before using a K12 saw to cut a hole in the overhead garage door for entry. Once inside, crews successfully knocked down the garage fire, preventing further spread.
The fire was contained primarily to the exterior and lower-level garage, with smoke being ventilated from the home using positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fans. Air monitors confirmed no hazardous carbon monoxide levels, and the garage’s electrical supply was isolated, allowing the homeowners to remain in their residence.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
