Fatal Hit and Run Details

(Bonne Terre, MO) A man from Festus, 23 year old Justin P. Fortney, who was in custody in connection to the hit and run traffic accident that killed 42 year old Kenneth L. Arnold, of Park HIlls, Has been released pending the filing of formal charges. Highway Patrol reports show the incident took place early Monday morning near the southbound exit ramp off southbound Highway 67 at Bonne Terre. The report shows a van driven south, by Fortney, is alleged to have struck Arnold as he was walking along the road and then left the scene. The report has been forwarded to the prosecutors office for consideration of charges. The accident took place about 1:20 am Monday. Arnold's body was discovered later that morning and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:06.
