Central R-III Investigates Report of Student Bringing Gun to School

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The Central R-III School District is addressing a serious incident after a student at Central Middle School reported that another student had previously brought a gun to school and was showing it off.

School Resource Officers (SROs) were immediately notified, and an investigation confirmed that the student had a firearm in their possession during school hours on a prior day. The district emphasized that this is a serious matter and is being handled accordingly through both school discipline and law enforcement.

Superintendent Dr. Ashley McMillian urged parents to discuss with their children the importance of never bringing any items to school that could be considered a weapon, as possession alone can lead to severe consequences.

McMillian also stressed the importance of students and parents reporting concerns promptly to help maintain a safe school environment. The district, working alongside law enforcement and the community, remains committed to ensuring the safety of all students and staff.
