Leadwood, Mo. (KFMO) - A bridge on Old Highway 8 is now a high priority for renovations after a recent evaluation.
The bridge, located near Highway M and New Highway 8, and near the West County School, has been dropped to a 5-ton limit from a previous 18-ton limit. A district bridge engineer with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), inspected the bridge earlier this year, with the eventual decision to drop the limit coming last week. Highway Administrator John Gross says that the bridge does see quite a bit of traffic, and therefore should be considered a priority.
The bridge is 120 feet in length. Gross says it has topped the list of bridges due for renovation the last 2 years through their Call to Projects for MoDOT, but haven't had success so far.
