(Perryville, MO) Perryville Police are thanking a third party who reported a bomb threat made by a student of Perry County School District #32's middle school. A press release on the department's Facebook page shows police were notified by a third party of a middle school student who had told several students during class Wednesday not to come to school Thursday because he was bringing a bomb to the school. School Officials were immediately notified and the student who was reported to have made the statement was identified. Officers made contact at the juvenile’s residence and he was brought to the police station for questioning. During the interview the juvenile admitted to the statement but denied being serious about the threat. He was turned over to authorities with the juvenile department. The residence was searched and no weapons or bomb making materials were discovered. Chief Direk Hunt stated he did not feel there was any articulable threat to the Perry County School District #32 campus or any other school campus in Perryville at the time. Hunt commended his officers, and the reporting party, for their swift action and reminded residents if you see or hear anything suspicious, contact your local law enforcement authorities.
