Appeals Court Upholds Burrow's Conviction

(Jefferson City, MO) Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is announcing his office successfully defended the convictions of Cecil Burrow, of Ironton, for four counts of first degree sodomy at the Eastern District Court of Appeals. Bailey says the appeals court affirmed the circuit court’s judgment denying Burrow’s claim the state had failed to establish sufficient evidence.

Burrow had been found guilty of sodomy after he was arrested for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 19 year old woman while she was passed out at Lake Hannah in St. Francois County in July of 2018. It's also said Burrow admitted to the incident during interviews with law enforcement officials. Burrow was sentenced to 20 years for each conviction. The Court ordered the sentences to run consecutively, resulting in a total of 80 years in the Department of Corrections. The Eastern District Court of Appeals’ decision upholds his original convictions and sentences.
