(Park Hills, MO) The Mineral Area Fine Arts Academy is starting off a new semester soon following a ribbon cutting and open house Saturday at the Fine Arts building on the campus of Mineral Area College at Park Hills. Music Academy Director, Amanda Dement, says many of those who came to the event, intended to get their child into a class, yet after having been on a tour of the Academy, they now want to take a class themselves.
The Academy is a not for profit organization designed to bring the Fine Arts Department back to life at Mineral Area College. A loss of state funding caused the closure of most of the colleges' music and theater programs that were a staple of the area for decades. According to Dement they are looking for donations. Theater programs are also available at the Mineral Area Fine Arts Academy.
