St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - Missourians will take part in the Statewide Tornado Drill this morning at 11 a.m. as part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week.
The drill is a coordinated effort by the National Weather Service, the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency, and local officials to help residents prepare for tornado emergencies.
At 11 a.m., NOAA Weather Radios set to receive Routine Weekly Tests will sound an alert, and many communities will activate outdoor warning sirens. Schools, businesses, and families are encouraged to use this time to practice their tornado safety plans by identifying shelter areas and reviewing emergency procedures. Officials stress that tornadoes can strike any time of year in Missouri, and knowing where to take cover can save lives.
